QUEST PROGRAM

Quest is an ala carte outdoor adventure, customized by you to meet your leisure time and interest. Build and package your quest by choosing from backcountry camping, canoe/kayaking, biking, backpacking, hiking, yoga, navigation, nature interpretation and other adventure activities at North Bend State Park. Adding shuttle services is part of the Quest experience.

BOATING

North Bend has a 305-acre recreational lake. A boat ramp, handicapped accessible fishing pier, and other fishing access points.

Boating access is located at the Cokeley Recreation Area and the Eldon J. Haught Recreation Area along with separate ramps at Tracy Lake and Mountwood Park.

NORTH BEND GOLF COURSE

Play golf at North Bend Golf Course- a challenging 9-hole double tee course, par 72.This course is 4½ miles from North Bend State Park in Harrisville, WV.

HIKING / BIKING

The North Bend Rail Trail stretches 72 miles through 13 tunnels, rural countryside and several historic sites with mountain biking, hiking, horseback riding, buggy rides and nature walks. Rental bikes available.

ROCK CLIMBING

North Bend Climbing Guides offers fully guided rock climbing and rappelling at North Bend State Park. We provide all equipment and instruction needed for a day of fun!

HORSEBACK RIDING

The North Bend Rail Trail caters to horseback riders with 72 miles of trail.

Be sure to bring your own horse to enjoy these great trails.

HUNTING / FISHING

Ritchie County rightly claims to be a “Hunter and Fisherman’s Dream.” More than 13,000 acres of public wildlife management areas, rivers, lakes and reservoirs are available. Local businesses specializing in gear for the avid or weekend sportsman are available.

Public Hunting Lands

  • Hughes River Wildlife Management Area 10,000 acres (500 are in Ritchie County)
  • Ritchie Mines Wildlife Management Area—1,800 acres
  • Sand Hill Wildlife Management Area—967 acres
